I was recently asked to make a changing table organizer. After seeing my friends for her new nursery I knew exactly what I was going to make. It is pretty simple with a bunch of straight cuts and sewing. I used cotton woven and a little bit of iron on interfacing.
First I cut out all of my pieces
Organizer Pockets
10x8
12x6
6x6
6.5x6.5
Top
24x14
Bottom
24x15
2 bottom pieces of main fabric
1 bottom piece of interfacing
1 top piece (folded in half)
2 of each different sized pocket (4 pockets total)
Iron on interfacing to the back of one of the bottom pieces
For the pockets I sewed them right sides together along the sides and bottom
Trim corners and flip right side out
Finish/serge the top
Press them flat and fold over the top flap about an inch
Sew across top flap to finish it
Place the pockets on the right side of the bottom piece that has interfacing
Top stitch around the sides and bottom of each pocket
Lay the other bottom piece on top right sides together and sew around the sides and bottom
Trim corners, flip right side out and press
Baste or serge the top raw edges together
Set aside and grab the top piece
Press down 1/2" on one of the short ends
Fold in half right sides together
Place the top piece on top of the bottom piece with pockets facing up
The ironed hem should be on the very top
Sew/serge the bottom to the top not catching the ironed hem Press the serged seam towards the top Lay flat and flip the ironed hem over the serged seam Topstitch close to the edge
